Privacy Policy for Patch
Last updated: September 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Jenika Shah ("we", "us", "Patch") handles information when you use the Patch mobile app (the "App"). Patch helps you check skincare and makeup product ingredients and log how your skin reacts to products over time.
By using Patch you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address through our authentication provider (Firebase Authentication by Google). If you sign in with Google or Apple, the provider shares a basic identifier and your email with us so we can create your account. With Apple you can choose to hide your email, in which case we only receive a private relay address. We do not collect your real name for display. Instead we generate an anonymous handle (for example "DewyNova42") that represents you inside the App.
Content you create. When you log a product we store the product name, the brand, your reaction (worked, did not work or unclear), the date, and any notes you add. Your skin type and skin concerns are stored on your device.
Identifiers. We store a user id assigned by our authentication provider and your anonymous handle so your logged history can sync to your account and survive a reinstall.
Usage and diagnostics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to fix crashes. This includes app interactions (for example that a product was checked or logged, or that a search found no results), crash reports and basic device information such as model and iOS version. It is not linked to your name or email, we do not use the advertising identifier and we do not use it for advertising or tracking across other apps.
Messages you send us. If you send feedback or a product request from the App, we receive your message, your account email (or the email you choose to give us) and basic app details (app version, iOS version, device type and your username). These are sent to our support inbox (hosted by Google) so we can reply.
We do not collect precise location, we do not collect payment information, and we do not ask for medical records.
How we use information
- To create and maintain your account and your anonymous handle.
- To save your logged product reactions and sync them to your account.
- To show you ingredient information and patterns based on what you log.
- To keep the service secure and to prevent abuse.
- To respond to your requests and support questions.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers that run the App's backend, namely Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Google Analytics for Firebase and Crashlytics), Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple. They process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Legal reasons, if required by law or to protect rights, safety and the integrity of the service.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account information and logged history until you delete them. You can:
- Clear your logged product history at any time from the Profile tab.
- Delete your entire account from the Profile tab. Deleting your account removes your authentication record and your stored account data, including your handle and your synced history.
Security
We rely on industry-standard measures provided by Firebase, including encryption in transit and access rules that restrict each account to its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Patch is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the App through history clearing and account deletion. For anything else, contact us at support@patchskindecoder.app.
International transfers
Our providers may process and store information in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
